Are you planning on getting your roof done?
Are you confused about some of the steps?
Let us breakdown Step 1 which is getting your roof loaded first.
Step 1: Shingles are loaded onto your roof via a Crane/Boom Truck
During this step the distributor makes sure that no bundles are loose and that they are set properly onto your roof so that they don’t fall down. Some steep roof may not be loadable by the distributor. The main reason for this is that when a roof is steep, bundles can fall off the roof and they can be lethal(a huge liability), getting technical if you do the math, the coefficient for gravity is 9.81 whereas the average bundle weighs anywhere from 75 to 85 pounds. This force is enough to be deadly and cause massive damage.
Vents, metal valleys, other accessories are placed on the ground by the house. These are usually lighter and can also fly off of the roof with enough winds.
In order to prepare yourself, try to keep the driveway free of vehicles. If you can request a specific time or date so you can be present to report any damages if they may occur by the distributor.
If you can, make sure that the vents and other accessories on the ground aren’t stolen. Sometimes a rampant issue when there are fly by night companies in a fresh hailzone.
And with that, you are ready to have your roof roofed!
